Part of the town's rich heritage, the sea remains at the heart of Bude life all year long. Whatever the weather, you'll find people walking their dogs, swimming and surfing at Summerleaze or Crooklets; and on warmer days, people linger for longer, sitting on the beaches and the benches.

While the surrounding countryside offers some beautiful walks, this stretch of coast is particularly attractive to surfers and open swimmers. Even in winter, the sea pool is in use, topped up twice a day by the Atlantic; you'll find there are plenty of hardy types in Bude.
